IIMs administer the Common Admission Test (CAT), a test of management aptitude, to candidates for admission to a variety of management programs, including undergraduate and graduate degrees. The exam is given once a year to narrow down the pool of applicants for different management programs.  

What is CAT or Common Admission Test?

The CAT Exam is a national-level management entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Management for enrollment in more than 100 B-schools such as Universal Business School and 20 IIMs around India. Multiple-choice and non-multiple-choice questions from the Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability sections are included in the CAT exam (QA).

The difficulty level of the exam ranges from moderate to high. The CAT score is accepted for admission to Executive MBA, PhD, and FPM programs in addition to the MBA program. To qualify for the CAT exam 2022, a candidate must score the minimum cut-off score. After the selection through written exam candidates is called for personal interview rounds and a counselling process.

CAT Exam 2022 Eligibility

There are certain eligibility criteria for the CAT exam 2022. A candidate must check the entire CAT exam 2022 eligibility to be eligible for the exam. Read on to know what these criteria are.

  • To participate in CAT 2022, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 50% (45% for SC, ST, and PWD/DA category candidates) from an accredited university.
  • Candidates who have earned the required percentage in a professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA/FCAI) are also eligible to take the CAT.
  • Candidates who are enrolled in their final year of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent certificate or who are awaiting results may also apply for the CAT 2022 exam.

CAT Exam 2022 Syllabus

The CAT syllabus is very broad and all-encompassing. Although there is no set curriculum for the IIMs’ CAT exam, the majority of the questions are based on middle school English and Math courses.

  • To register, enter your name, birthdate, nationality, phone number, and email address.
  • Fill out the application by logging in using the ID you received via email.
  • Add your personal and academic information.
  • Upload your scanned signature and a passport-sized photo.
  • Choose your desired IIMs and courses.
  • Identify your top test cities
  • Use a credit/debit card or net banking to pay the application fee.
