A perfect study plan

One can never get enough practice for the PTE-A exam. However, you need to make a strategic study plan and stick to it. A perfect study plan is a perfect combination of preparation method, practice time, and self-analysis.

For the questions that contribute to the score of another section and are difficult for you:

  • Devote at least 2 hours a day to preparing for them.
  • Practice with the repeated questions. (Get our PTE-A Exam Memories File)
  • Spend time to re-collect and summarize everything you learnt on the previous day.
  • Assess yourself with scored practice tests.
  • Make a note of all the important points that can help you recollect the ideas to answer these questions.

For questions that contribute to the score of another section and are your strong areas:

  • Spend at least half an hour on strengthening the areas you're already good at.
  • Learn ways to save time by completing them faster.

For the questions that carry negative marking:

  • Know what are the common mistakes and how can you avoid them while answering such questions.
  • Learn all the tips that can help you.
  • Take the correction service from the experts and get experts guidance and tips.

For the questions that need skill polishing:

  • Write down the tips & strategies on paper and stick on your study table.
  • Read those tips every time you take a break.
  • Refer to the previous year's questions and the most repeated questions.
  • Practice as many questions as possible and test them timely to improve further.

Devote these 3 hours every day without skipping. Take the mock tests, scored and unscored tests to enhance your preparation and to assess yourself.

And when you are preparing for a high score; do not forget to go out-of-the-box. Practice, however, and with whatever possible. Integrate PTE practice in your daily life as seamlessly as you can.

For instance, if you watch TV shows, try to familiarize yourself with the new accents and learn new words. If you are listening to a podcast, try taking notes or transcribing it. Record your answers to improve Oral fluency and pronunciations.

Time-Management Skills

Answering 73-80 questions in a 3-hour exam is not easy. It would be best if you practiced enough to read the questions, understand them, and write them. Make scanning and skimming your strength. But leaving no time for review is the most common mistake. Avoid it

Study Materials

Do not keep scouring the web for PTE Study materials; you might end up getting some random and inauthentic materials. Get on to a trusted and proven platform that provides you with the practice materials for each section, e-books, question bank and mock tests.

Section-wise tips

Let's discuss the common tips for each section:

Writing

Understand the topic and plan your essay. Follow the PTE Essay Writing format and the word limit. In Summarise Written Text, be precise and write in one sentence. (Only one full-stop allowed).

Focus on your Oral Fluency and Pronunciation. Also, take care to avoid pauses and unnecessary fillers. Record yourself and listen to improve the speech and voice clarity. Do not pause for more than 3 seconds and do not stop while speaking, even if you commit a mistake. You need to focus on the delivery of words by understanding the sounds, rhythm, and intonations. Know where to pause, and, what is connected speech, and the words & sentence stress.

Listening

Listen to different TV shows, radio shows, Podcasts, to get familiar with different accents. Practice taking the notes as you hear. Practicing scanning and skimming the content to understand the context and identify the Keywords. Also, Practice Writing as you hear.

Reading

Practice reading as much as you can to develop reading speed. Develop the habit of finding out mistakes in noun, verb, or an adjective to improve grammar. Grow your vocab to understand the words better and the context of the questions.

Good vocabulary

A strong vocabulary is necessary to clear the PTE-A Exam. Learn as many synonyms as possible. Practice using new words in your speech. It represents your language quality.

Confidence

To be confident, practice with microphone and headphones.

During your practice, attempt to replicate the noisy exam center ambience (especially in the Speaking Module). For instance, practice for the Speaking Module at home amidst deliberate chaos (for instance, have news play on TV on loud volumes). This will prepare you to concentrate in adverse environments.
